Tahini cake with sesame coating / susam mantolu tahinli kek

Tahini Cake with Sesame Coating (Susam Mantolu Tahinli Kek)
www.turkishfoodandrecipes.com

bahan2nya

3 eggs (saya guna 4 biji telur saiz c)
1 ½ cup sugar (saya guna 1 1/4 cawan gula castor)
1 cup canola oil (saya guna 1 cawan minyak jagung)
½ cup tahini (1/2 cawan tahini)
½ cup cold milk (1/2 cawan susu segar - sejuk dari fridge)
1 tsp/1 package baking powder (1 sk baking powder)
2 cups flour (2 cawan tepung gandum)

For the coating:
1 tsp soft margarine (1 sk mentega)
½ cup sesame (1/2 cawan biji)
2 tbsp walnut pieces (2 sb walnut - saya letak punya la byk)

In a large bowl, mix the eggs and sugar with a mixer till it gets foamy (for about 5 minutes). Add canola oil and cold milk. Stir with a wooden spoon. Then, stir in flour and baking powder. Finally add tahini and stir well to dissolve all ingredients.
Meanwhile, apply soft margarine all over the cake pan with a brush or your fingers. Pour the sesame inside and try to coat inside the cake pan evenly (see the picture). And then, pour the cake mixture inside and sprinkle with walnuts on top.
Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C) and bake for about 40-50 minutes till the cake turns golden brown.

HOMEMADE TAHINI (SESAME SEED PASTE)
http://mideastfood.about.com/od/dipsandsauces/r/tahinirecipe.htm

Ingredients:

5 cups sesame seeds
1 1/2 cups olive oil or vegetable oil

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350. Toast sesame seeds for 5-10 minutes, tossing the seeds frequently with a spatula. Do not allow to brown. Cool for 20 minutes.

Pour sesame seeds into food processor and add oil. Blend for 2 minutes. Check for consistency. The goal is a thick, yet pourable texture. Add more oil and blend until desired consistency.

Yield: 4 cups

Storing Tahini

Tahini should be stored in the refrigerator in a tightly closed container. It will keep for up to 3 months.
